The Savasana™ Hot Yoga Towel
Our product is a yoga mat sized rayon from bamboo towel for hot yoga (Bikram™) practitioners.
Savasana™
We are hot yoga practitioners who developed this business when we tried to find towels to entirely cover our yoga mats. In this yoga, the room is very hot, people perspire a lot and usually drip sweat. It's uncomfortable to do yoga and lie on a wet mat and towels are always used. Most towels don't cover the entire yoga mat, leaving parts of it exposed. People who find this uncomfortable sometimes use beach towels and fold them to fit the yoga mat properly, which is awkward. Others take two towels and lay them end to end, which is also awkward. People who don't try to cover the entire yoga mat end up with wet, sweaty vinyl mats, which then have to be cleaned.
When we tried to find yoga mat sized towels the only ones we were able to find were made of synthetic fibres that are full of static when they come out of the dryer, don't wear well, pill up over time, and emit an odour of their own in a hot, humid room.
When we couldn't find a good yoga towel, we decided to develop and distribute our own brand. We researched different manufacturers in a number of different countries with the goal of finding a company where we could be assured that the labour practices and product quality would meet our standards. We finally settled on a European textile mill where we were assured our criteria would be met.
The brand name is Savasana™. Savasana is a Sanskrit term referring to the basic relaxation pose in all forms of yoga. It is a word that is well known and welcomed in hot yoga, as it signifies a period of relief in a demanding practice. The "Savasana" is the time to lie down and rest.
The Yoga Towel
The towel is a blend of 60% rayon from bamboo and 40% combed cotton.
These are really wonderful towels. They are thick, soft, plush and super absorbent. They wick moisture away from the body and have properties that resist odour, mould, mildew and fungal growth. They are top quality and long lasting. Although they are machine washable and dryable, a feature of the Savasana™ towel is that unlike other towels they remain soft after line drying.
Due to the comfort, softness and wicking properties, the Savasana™ towels substantially increase comfort and enjoyment for hot yoga practitioners The towel dimensions are 27" x 76" or 69 cm x 193 cm.
